Campus Events = Photography Opportunities
If you are interested in event photography please check out our shiny new Events page here on the Photo Club blog! Some requests:
Criminal Justice department:
The criminal justice department needs help. You can go and take pictures with at risk children to give them a creative outlet for an outreach group called PALS. Or, if you’d rather, they also need photo editors. Anyone who knows their way around a stamp tool, come on and give them a hand!
Getting the word out!
We are going to start advertising ourselves out to the campus groups. We want to take pictures of any group, event, or club and give them the amazing photos that we come up with as a way of advertising to them.
Go to your other, inferior clubs that you barely attend and ask them if you can photograph them. Go to a soccer game, ultimate Frisbee match or even a Quidditch tournament (yes, GVSU has Quidditch. Heads up!) Once you have handed over your brilliant photos, the clubs will see how cool it is to have someone record their group’s activities for free.
Let’s do it!
Ready…break!
Area51 Show:
The pictures are flooding into Ellen’s account, so fast that…she…doesn’t… check for them anymore. She’s got none so far…
8 photos is the number of prints that are going to be made and put on display, but we are also going to have the projector possibly running, which will show at least one of your photos. So far we have zero photos to choose from. At this rate, you have a pretty good chance of getting a 16×20″ inch print of your photo!
Start submitting anything (though we prefer GVSU or Photo Club related pics) to lundgree@mail.gvsu.edu!
The Actual Meeting Minutes:
Possible meeting time changes:
Some of the most popular times were – Thursday’s from 4-5pm, 5-6pm, and 7-8pm.
Keep checking the website and vote here for your favorite if you haven’t already done so.
Wedding photos:
Dan and Ellen showed their wedding photos and gave some tips on how to take them.
Tips:
- Remember to plan ahead if you are going to take wedding photos. You only get one shot.
- Take photos of key items of the wedding. Ex. Rings, bride and groom (duh), wedding cake, family and friends, reception events….
- Don’t forget lighting. Weddings are generally events that spill over into the night. Make sure you bring the proper lens (if you have an SLR) and/or flash.
- And of course, don’t forget to try the food. It’s free!
Flickr photo’s of the week:
We reviewed this weeks flickr photos and were satisfied with some, impressed with others, and disappointed in a couple (mine ). Come on guys! Keep them coming, they’re looking great!
And, that’s it so far. We’ve a ton of other cool stuff going on, but I’m not going to tell you what it is. Come and find out for yourself!
