Random Object Shoot

Featured in our meeting last week was our Random Object Shoot where members were asked to bring in what ever cool, odd, fun stuff they had to just have fun and practice some indoor shooting. It was a small group of us, but we did some pretty fun things! We got some interesting results, some of which can be found on our flickr page!

Note: Last week’s meeting was canceled, so no notes. :)

Meeting Notes 10-1

Terry Johnston spoke to us last Thursday about being the Grand Rapids area photographer. He made a lot of great points, and we loved having him. Connect to him and join the Grand Rapids flickr group.

Afterwards, we attempted our Night Time Photo Shoot. We got rained on after about a half hour, but we are trying again after this week’s meeting, so come again!! Be sure to bring:

  • Camera
  • Tripod
  • Flashlights, Laser Pointers, Sparklers, Glow Sticks, and/or anything else that can make light trails.
  • Warm coat or jacket!
  • Umbrella? Just in case…

Summer Break

Our meetings are done for the semester! We had a good first half of a year. Thank you to all who attended meetings and especially to those who came on our photo shoots. I had lots of fun with everyone. We got some ideas for next year with our last meeting, and lots and lots of pizza. We also have some funding now so we can expand our reach and get some promotions.

We will not have any official meetings over the summer, but we may have some informal meet ups to do some photoshoots so keep watching us here and on the facebook page! Check out the groups semester in photos here.

Enjoy your summer!!

Frederick Meijer Gardens

Saturday a few of us went on a spontaneous trip to Frederick Meijer Garden’s butterfly greenhouse and sculpture walk. It was a gorgeous day out with beautiful weather and lighting. All of us came back with some wonderful shots.

Indoor Photo Challenge – Feb. 25th

The last meeting before spring break, I asked people to bring in objects for a photo challenge. There really wasn’t much of a challenge, but people brought in plenty of objects, and we had quite a successful photo shoot with what we had. Items included a teddy bear, a cut glass bowl, card decks, balls of yarn, incense, and some other stuff. See our table of loot:

Spot a few of our photos on our flickr page! I hope you all enjoyed spring break, maybe took a few photos. If you did, feel free to share them on our page linked above.
